Yesterday we welcomed 23 students and a teacher from UCE in Thailand. They were welcomed with a Powhiri and assigned to students around the school to let them experience the English teaching methods from a students view. In the 7 weeks they are staying they will participate in a wide range of activities: Farm visit, Trip in the Catlins, Visit a Marae and much more. We will farewell them with a special farewell Assembly on the 16th of May.

ESOL Assessments
As we head into the final two weeks of term, the ESOL class
are busy practicing their listening and speaking skills in preparation for two
assessment activities.
Students will at Level 1 will complete the standard
'Participate in a group conversation using simple learnt language patterns
(ESOL)', which is worth four credits. Level 2 students will be working on the
standard 'Participate in a conversation in a familiar context (ESOL)', also
worth four credits. Everybody has been working hard, and there have been some
interesting conversations as part of our preparation!
Next week the group will be participating in activities
which require them to listen to and understand spoken information, and follow
instructions.
These assessments will also mark the end of our film unit.
Next term we will start on the topic 'Health'.
